This a blog. Sort of. I rarely use it anymore.

I seriously love Jay Brooks. Good guy; great father; loving husband. Also smart guy with more energy than twenty people half his age. And thoughtful advocate of rational drinking who constantly finds the time and energy (in between family, job, etc.) to take on the dumbasses who perpetuate our sick attitudes toward alcohol. As in this.
Speaking of Charlie, which I have been the past few days: a day or so ago, he pondered a cosmic question: Which American city can the honor of being "Beertown." No surprise, his answer has sparked debate. (See the comments to his original post.) And the always thoughtful Jeff Alworth of Beervana responds here.
Just received the latest print copy of US. News & World Report and it contains a nice article about Jim Koch and Boston Beer: "The Small Luxury of Sam Adams." The piece has not yet shown up online at USnews.com, but presumably it will and if it does, I'll post a link. Meantime, if you're a print reader, enjoy! But while you're waiting, take a look at this piece from the US News archive re. the 1990s craze for "ice beer." (Or, cough cough, read my op-ed piece about repeal at the US News website. Oh. Wait. You've already read it. Never mind!)
This is pretty groovy: an interactive food-beer pairing menu. Check it out here. And if you want to find local seasonal beers, remember to check out the Brewers Association's Seasonal Beer page, where you can also find pairing suggestions. Tip o' the mug to Luke at A Blog About Beer. (And to Jonathan's really simple BEER syndication, where I ran across Luke's post.)
